PRIVATE GAME FAQS

What is the difference between an Amazing Race & Scavenger Hunt?

We have two types of games: (1) Amazing Race, and (2) Scavenger Hunt. All games are for teams (ideally of 4) and run for 2 hours total, including time for introduction and closing.

(1) Amazing Race

A thrilling adrenaline rush, this fast-paced game typically consists of 6-8 clues that players will receive on their mobile phones. The clues will take them to a specific location where they must complete a task (i.e.: take a picture, look for a landmark, record a video) and submit it to receive points. Teams will receive points in the order they submit their answers and the team with the most points at the end of game will win a coveted GameMasters gold medal!

(2) Scavenger Hunt

Played at a walking pace, keen eyes and team work are needed to master this game! Teams will receive a game packet that consists of ~20 items/challenges that they will need to locate and complete before time is up! To make things interesting, we also include interactive elements that require teams to partner with one another, as well as multimedia clues like pictures and videos – this isn’t your traditional scavenger hunt! Based on their results, the team with the most points wins – yes, you guessed it – a GameMasters gold medal!

What are your prices?

Pricing depends on the type of event, complexity, and the number of people. Just give us some details about your event here and we’ll respond to you within 24-28 hours with a proper quote!

Please note that every private game has a minimum charge the equivalent of 20 players. If you have less than 20 people but are still interested in a game, that’s not a problem! But please note that you will be charged the same price as groups with 20 people, as it takes the same manpower and resources to run a game for 20 as a game for 8.

What is your payment policy?

We ask for a 50% deposit prior to a game to reserve your date and begin the game planning. Deposit is based on the minimum estimated head count. After securing the deposit, the head count can increase to a pre-determined maximum, but it cannot decrease.

Deposit must be placed at least 1 week prior for games under 30 pax, and 2 weeks prior for games over 30 pax.

The deposit is payable by cheque or bank transfer. The remaining 50% is due on or before the day of the game via bank transfer or cash.

What is your refund/cancellation policy?

You may cancel any time before the security deposit is placed and the date is reserved. If you cancel after the deposit is placed, we will refund 75% of your deposit (for standard games only). For custom games, we will pro-rate based on the amount of work that has already gone in to the game creation.

To see our policy on headcount changes, please scroll down.

What language are your games played in?

All games are in English only.

When do I need to finalize my headcount?

We require a final headcount no less than 3 days prior to the event for games under 40 players; 5 days prior for games with 40+ players. We will ask for an estimated head count range when you first request a quote and work off this number to plan your game.

Please note that once your deposit is placed, the number of attendees may increase but may not decrease.

What is your rain policy?

Weather can turn unexpectedly, as we all know. If the weather report shows typhoon or rainstorm warning prior to a game, we may propose an alternative game, reschedule, or offer credit for another game valid for 3 months.

If a typhoon or rainstorm occurs while an outdoor game is in progress, to the point that the game cannot continue for safety reasons, we may need to end the game early. Unfortunately, we will not be able to refund your payment in this case, as the game has already commenced and all materials have been prepared.

What is your Late Arrival policy?

As a rule, we advise you tell your guests to arrive 15-30 minutes early, depending on whether venue tickets need to be purchased in advance. The game will start promptly at the scheduled time.

If a game runs overtime due to excessive lateness (over 30 min), a 5% late fee will be added to your total.

What happens if people don’t show up (No-Show policy)?

Once you finalize the guest count, you will be charged for that amount regardless of whether they show up, so please make sure to finalize with your group before giving us the final count! After the security deposit is placed, the group count may increase but may not decrease.

What should people wear/bring to a game?

Depending on the game, we typically recommend guests bring a well-charged phone and activewear (especially running shoes!). We also send out a pre-game email prior to every game that provides all these details, so you can be sure to be prepared!

What if a game runs over the designated time?

Prior to each game, you and the game master will agree on a designated time for your chosen game.  The game master will do their best to time the game and monitor teams to fit into the designated timeline. No late fee will be charged for games that run overtime after the game has already begun.

Do you do kids games?

While our games are geared towards adults, they can be played by children over the age of 12, although one adult chaperone is required per team for children until 18 years of age. Please contact us and we would be happy to give you more information about which game options are best for kids!

Please note that any custom game requests must fit into the style of our urban scavenger race.

PUBLIC GAME FAQS

What are public games?

Public games are hosted by GameMasters and open to anyone to play. They are different from private games in that you do not need a minimum number of people to play (although we recommend signing up in teams of 4) and are a great option for a fun gathering with friends.

Find out what public games are open for registration by clicking here >

What kinds of games are played?

It can be anything, but usually we play Amazing Race or Scavenger Hunt style games, so expect there to be an element of competition, clue solving, and lots of running around. Games can be held anywhere – from Disneyland to the streets of Sheung Wan, see the games we’ve played in the past on our gallery!

What do teams look like? How many other players are there?

Teams are typically composed of 3-4 people. We encourage you to sign up with full teams (i.e.: you and 2-3 others). While we allow people to sign up in groups of 1-2 people, we will likely need to combine you with other teams to create groups of 3-4, so please be aware of this when signing up.

If another team cannot be found to combine into, or if the game fills up, priority is given to those with full teams of 3-4 people. You will receive a refund if we cannot accommodate your request.

How do I sign up?

Simple! Just go to the Public Games page and scroll down to the Registration section. Fill out your team information, click “submit” and proceed to the payment page.

NOTE: Your registration is NOT confirmed until payment is received. If you choose to pay via bank transfer, please transfer to the account information below and send us a picture of your receipt for confirmation.

How much does it cost? How do I pay?

Pay by bank transfer to HSBC account 848-588935-838 at least 3 days before the game:

# of People Cost/person
1-2 HK$300 pp
3-4 HK$248 pp

Pay by cash on the day of the game:

# of People Cost/person
1-2 HK$340 pp
3-4 HK$288 pp

Why is cash more?! There’s a good reason! Paying in advance helps us get a solid headcount and allows us to plan for the best game possible without last minute changes! In other words, it’s the most fun for everyone!

Cancellation/Refund Policy

You may cancel your registration up to 48 hours before a game and receive a refund. After 48 hours, no refund will be given.

If you need to cancel for reasons of illness or emergencies occurring after 48 hours, we are happy to give you credit for another game, valid for 3 months.

See below for weather-related refund policies.

What if the weather changes last minute? Or during the game?

Weather can turn unexpectedly, as we all know. If the weather report shows typhoon or rainstorm warning prior to a game, we may reschedule and send out an email to alert players. If you cannot make the new game date, we are happy to give you credit for another game, valid for 3 months.

If a typhoon or rainstorm occurs while an outdoor game is in progress, to the point that the game cannot continue for safety reasons, we may need to end the game early. Unfortunately, we will not be able to refund your payment in this case, as the game has already commenced and all materials have been prepared.

Has anyone ever gotten injured during a game?

Our track record has been clean, although we do ask players to sign a liability waiver prior to playing, just in case. Our games are not dangerous, but they do involve some level of physical activity (most often running). During the games, teams are in full control of their level of exertion, so we ask that you play competitively but carefully as well!

How does my team prepare? Can we dress up?

You’ll receive an email a few days before the day with information on what to bring and what to wear to best enjoy the game.

We encourage team spirit, so if you and your team want to wear matching colors, or even dress up, go for it! As long as it’s not anything lewd or offensive, you’re all good!
